Tornados and severe thunderstorms are the most common weather related events in Northern Illinois. Weather warning information is disseminated via state of the art NOAA radio receivers located in every building on campus. These radios provide direct information from the National Weather Service. In addition outdoor sirens are located on campus. The message is transmitted by the DeKalb Police Department.
